Bromsgrove Sanders Park rape horror as police patrols stepped up

Police are investigating after a woman was raped in an early morning attack at a park in Worcestershire. Officers have stepped up patrols after her ordeal happened today, Sunday, July 28.

West Mercia Police said they received a report of an assault which took place between 1am and 5am. Specially trained officers assisted the victim.



Officers were at the scene on Sunday afternoon and the force said there would be an “increased number of police officers for some time” in the park and gardens.

Inspector Rich Field said: “An incident like this can understandably cause concern to the public, but I would like to reassure the community that an investigation has been launched. There is likely to be an increase in police presence in the area for a period of time while inquiries are carried out. Specially trained officers are supporting the victim.”

The full statement from West Mercia Police said: “There is currently an increased police presence in Bromsgrove after officers received a report of a rape in the early hours of this morning. Officers are currently at the scene in Sanders Park following a report that a woman had been raped in the area between 1am and 5am.”
