A684 live as crash closes main route to Yorkshire Dales ‘for some time’

Motorists traveling in the Yorkshire Dales are facing long delays this afternoon following a serious crash.

Those wanting to travel to the Dales to enjoy the sunshine on Sunday are being asked to plan alternative routes as the A684 was closed between Aysgarth and Bainbridge by police. The road is a major route through the Dales and the closure is likely to cause huge delays for motorists.

North Yorkshire Police said the road was likely to remain closed “for some time”.

At the moment, the circumstances in which the collision occurred are not known, nor is it known when the road will be reopened. Yorkshire Live has contacted North Yorkshire Police for further information.

The road remains closed

The A684 – a popular road through the Yorkshire Dales – remains closed between Aysgarth and Bainbridge following a serious accident today.

North Yorkshire Police urged motorists to find alternative routes where possible, with the road expected to remain closed “for some time”.

A third air ambulance is understood to have landed at the scene of a serious crash on the A684 in Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police has urged motorists to find alternative routes and the A684 is expected to be closed “for some time” following a serious crash.

A spokesman for the force said: “Please be aware that the A684 is currently closed between Aysgarth and Bainbridge.

“This is due to a serious collision which we are attending with other emergency services. The road is likely to be closed for some time so motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your co-operation.”
