Why Leeds United will struggle to keep Crysencio Summerville amid Tottenham transfer talks

Former Tottenham Hotspur scout Bryan King believes Leeds United will struggle to keep hold of Crysencio Summerville if the north London club come calling.

The Dutch striker has been in fine form for the Whites this season, with his 17 goals and eight assists playing a key role in Leeds’ promotion. Summerville came through the club’s academy after joining from Feyenoord in 2020.

Recent reports have claimed that Premier League sides are interested in the talented winger, whose current contract is set to expire in June 2026. Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham United have all been linked, as have European clubs Atletico Madrid , Bayer Leverkusen and FC Porto.

And amid links with a potential move to Ange Postecoglou’s side, King claimed an offer from Spurs would be hard to turn down. However, he admits that taking his form from the Championship to the top flight of English football would be a big challenge.

“Would Leeds want to sell Summerville?” He said via Football League World. “If they’re going to get promoted to the Premier League, they’re going to need all the help they can get.

“But for Summerville, if a club like Tottenham come and offer the money they can offer, it would be very difficult for him to refuse.

“It would be a step forward for him, to score 17 goals in the Championship is one thing, but to score 17 goals in the Premier League is another.”

Süleyman Öztürk, editor of Dutch football website Voetbal International recently predicted that Summerville will leave Elland Road this summer. He predicts the 22-year-old will be on the move in a deal worth around €40m (£34.3m).

“He is one of the best strikers in the championship,” Öztürk said. “From next season we will see him at a top club. He is going to make a transfer, there is no other way. I would like to see him at a higher level. He has developed fantastically in the last six months.

“He’s quick and good on the outside, but also as a number ten. I think it should cost around forty million euros. He became really priceless (unaffordable) for a club like Feyenoord, one of the best players in the Championship. “
