The Bristol inquest into the ‘unexplained’ death in Staple Hill is ongoing

Inquiries into the death of a man who was found unconscious at a home are still ongoing after a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.

Police found the 40-year-old unresponsive at an address in Hayward Road, Bristol, just after 5.40pm BST on Thursday. He later died at the scene.

Police said a man who was arrested on suspicion of murder at the same address has been released under investigation as the cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Avon and Somerset Police said they are treating the death as unexplained pending the results of further forensic tests.

The force said the family of the deceased are being kept informed of the investigation by specialist officers.

District Inspector Keith Smith said the force’s “thoughts are with the man’s family in their loss”.

“We will continue our thorough investigation into what happened and prepare a report for the coroner if no crime is identified,” he said.
