Preview: Coventry City vs. Everton – prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday’s friendly between Coventry City and Everton, including predictions, team news and possible line-ups.

EvertonHis preparations for the new Premier League season will continue on Tuesday night with a clash with the Championship side City of Coventry in the West Midlands.

The Toffees will begin their 2024-25 Premier League campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 17, while Coventry’s new Championship season kicks off at Stoke City on August 10.

Coventry finished ninth in the Championship last season, so they are gearing up for another campaign in the second tier, with the 2024-25 challenge kicking off against Stoke on August 10.

Mark RobinsThey have since played three times this summer, opening their preparations for the new season with a goalless draw against Getafe before recording a 3-1 win over Stevenage on 23 July.

Coventry were also in action on Saturday, suffering a 2-0 defeat at Darmstadt, but they have two more friendlies after that, facing Werder Bremen and Roma on August 3 and August 6 respectively.

The Sky Blues have made four signings this summer, with their biggest arrival proving to be the 23-year-old midfielder. Jack Rudoniwho made the move to the Huddersfield Town club.

In the meantime, Callum O’Hare and Simon Moore they are among the four players who have left since the end of last season.

Everton finished 15th in the Premier League last season, with the Toffees overcoming some relegation fears to retain their place in English football’s top flight.

There remains off-field drama from the latest takeover collapse, but the head coach Sean Dyche and its players simply need to focus on what they can control, and the start of the new campaign is just around the corner.

Everton opened their pre-season preparations with a 3-3 draw against Sligo Rovers on July 19 before suffering a 2-1 defeat at Salford City on Saturday.

Dyche’s side face Preston North End and Roma in their final two friendlies of the summer before opening their new Premier League campaign against Brighton on August 17.

Everton managed to make three signings this summer, bringing Iliman Ndiaye, Tim Iroegbunam and Jesper Lindströmwhile their major departure was Amadou Onanabut Jarrad Branthwaite remains at Goodison Park for now despite widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Coventry could have once again Oliver Dovin between the sticks on Tuesday and the XI is expected to be similar to the one that started against Darmstadt last time out.

Milan Van Ewijk and Joel Latibeaudiere it’s back seat row for the Sky Blues again.

In the meantime, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Ephron Mason-Clark should continue in the XI but could be a change in the final third of the pitch, with Fabio Tavares in line to start.

As for Everton, this game will come too soon for new signing Lindstrom, while Ndiaye, Idrissa Gueye and James Tarkowski doubts remain alongside Vitaly Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson.

Branthwaite is also not yet ready to feature, but the squad should be more experienced than what was available to face Salford last time out.

Either at and Dominic Calvert-Lewin should continue in the final third of the pitch while also expected to be starts for Jack Harrison and James Garnerbut Jordan Pickford is still out due to his involvement with England at this summer’s European Championship.
