The A370 section reopens after a person falls into the water

A main road in Bristol was closed this afternoon after a member of the public fell into the water near the Goal Ferry Bridge. A stretch of the A370 in Bedminster was closed at around 2.30pm on Sunday 28 July with police, paramedics and firefighters attending the incident.

Police confirmed they received a call this afternoon about a member of the public. Police managed to close the road while Avon Fire and Rescue Service assisted the individual, who is now safely out of the water.




A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: β€œIt appears someone has (fallen) into the water near the Gaol Ferry Bridge. (A) call (be received) just after 2.30 p.m. Avon Fire and Rescue Service are dealing (with him), Police are assisting with a road closure – (we) believe the person is now safe with the ambulance service.”

Police could not confirm the condition of the person who fell into the water, but confirmed that she was rescued and the road was reopened about two hours later at 4.30pm.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
