Sheffield United are plotting a move for the Southampton right-back

Sheffield United are interested in Southampton full-back James Bree as they look to sign a new right-back this summer following Jayden Bogle’s move to Leeds United, according to Football League World.

Bree arrived last January, with former Saints boss Nathan Jones signing him after previously working with him at Luton Town.

He signed for a reported fee of £750,000, signing him for a reduced fee, taking advantage of the fact that his contract was set to expire at the end of the season.

The right-back would go on to make just 15 starts in all competitions though last season, failing to earn a starting place in the side.

The arrival of Russell Martin has not changed his impact, with Kyle Walker-Peters being favored over the 26-year-old. This limited Bree to very few league appearances this season.

A promotion to the top flight will only hinder Bree’s chances of playing even more now that the Saints have also signed Yukinara Sugawara.

Although the report says the 26-year-old is ready to fight for his place at St. Mary’s in the Premier League next season, he may want to go in search of regular game time, perhaps for a Championship side like Sheffield United. The Saints are likely to make a decent profit as well.
