66-year-old man stabbed to death in block of flats in north London

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 66-year-old man was stabbed in north London.

The Met was called at around 7.30pm on Friday evening to reports of a man seriously injured in the communal area of ​​flats in Lockhart Close, Enfield.

The police intervened together with colleagues from the ambulance and found a 66-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement on Saturday said the man’s identity had not been officially confirmed and detectives were working to notify his family.

Chief Inspector Laura Nelson said he was found critically stabbed in a common area of ​​a block of flats.

“I know local people will be extremely concerned by this tragic incident and I can assure them that dedicated detectives are investigating,” she said.

“We will do everything we can to find whoever was responsible for this murder.”

She added: “I am grateful to local residents who assisted officers last night and this morning as our investigation began.

“They will continue to see police working in the area, including forensic officers and other specialists supporting what will be a thorough investigation into the crime.

“I am appealing for information from anyone who saw anything suspicious in Lockhart Close, Derby Road, Lincoln Road and the surrounding area on Friday night. Have you seen anything or anyone unusual? If so, please call the police or, to remain anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
