Nottingham Forest have said what they need to do in the rest of the summer window when the transfer verdict is in

Striker Chris Wood has praised Nottingham Forest’s “clever” business in the transfer market and is keen for most of the squad to stay together as the club aim to make a start in the Premier League.

The Reds still have some summer shopping to do before the window closes at the end of August. But the signings made so far have the potential to be very good additions.

Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, defender Nikola Milenkovic, young right-back Eric da Silva Moreira and midfielder Elliot Anderson got to know their new teammates at last week’s training camp in Spain. Anderson and Moreira in particular impressed in the friendlies, while the 6ft 8in Miguel was a big talking point.

Milenkovic hasn’t really come to the fore in the games he’s played so far. However, Wood is confident that the centre-back can become an important player in Garibaldi following his move from Fiorentina.

“He’s a big boy and he’s got some good legs, we’re lucky to have him,” the New Zealander told the BBC. “He’s shown what he’s all about, so it’ll be interesting to see more of him in games. I think the four autographs we did were very smart.”

Wood is also pleased that this summer has been a relatively quiet one in terms of comings and goings at the City Ground. Forest showed what they were capable of during Nuno Espirito Santo’s last tenure, and building on those foundations for the Portuguese’s first full campaign in charge is an exciting prospect.
