City of Wakefield’s yard waste collection is coming up

Yard waste collection will take place on May 18. Yard waste must be on board before 7am in biodegradable paper bags or barrels. Plastic bags cannot be collected. Please cut branches into lengths of 3′ or less and tie them into bundles no more than 18 inches in diameter.

Yard Waste on Nahant Street is also available for removal of leaves, grass, clippings, shrubs and brush on scheduled dates throughout the season. A permit is required to gain access and is only available to Wakefield residents. Permits can be obtained at the DPW office at City Hall or purchased online. Proof of Wakefield residency is required at time of purchase. Permits must be renewed annually at a cost of $25.

Other important facts to remember

Collection Wednesday June 12: Residents can safely dispose of mercury at the Nahant Street site on June 12 between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. No permit is required for this service.
