Both the red and gold wheelchair sides were in action this weekend. Read below to find out how both sides fared in their respective matches.

Red wheelchair | Wakefield Trinity 10-84 Sheffield Eagles (27/07/24) – Championship East

A dominant display from Sheffield Eagles kept them top of the Eastern Wheelchair Championship as they completed a league double over Wakefield Trinity.

The Eagles looked sharp when they opened the scoring through Ben Simpson’s pass from Chris Haynes as Wakefield appeared to be sleeping. Simpson was at the other end of the pitch again soon after, with Chris Haynes following shortly after and Stephen Reilly striking to collect the first points for the Eagles.

Sid Ramsey threw a ball into the goal area to pick out Wakefield but he couldn’t convert.

The Eagles responded with quick tries from Haynes and Reilly adding the extra points before head coach Greg Brown rotated his bench. Joe Wink-Simmonds added two tries, setting up another Chris Haynes score before the break to make the half-time score 4-60.

After the break Reilly came on again but the Eagles used the game time to practice some set plays and final tackling moves with Ben Simpson scoring from a big kick and Chris Haynes coming in on a passing move. Wink-Simmonds added another short-range try towards the end, but the final say went to Trinity’s Ashley Lockwood, who powered her way over, with Kate Haigh adding the conversion to end the day.
