Charlton boss Jones keen to add touch more quality to squad but knows there needs to be transfer window outgoings – South London News

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has talked about some of his squad moving on if they want to secure regular first-team football.

The Addicks are looking to bring in a goalkeeper and have been in negotiations with veteran Asmir Begovic about a switch to SE7.

Begovic is a free agent after leaving QPR at the end of last season.

Charlton did have one outgoing over the weekend with goalkeeper Harry Isted signing a two-year contract at Burton Albion.

But Jones is keen for others to move on with the League One club now intent on trimming down their playing numbers.

The Addicks will not stand in the way of a move away for midfielder Scott Fraser, who spent the end of last season on loan at Hearts. Center-back Lucas Ness, working his way back from ankle surgery, also has at least one club keen on a deal.

“We have got one or two that are not going to get the game time they probably need at this stage of their career,” Jones told the South London Press after Saturday’s 2-0 friendly defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

“It’s up to the club, it’s up to them and for us to find homes for them.

“If not then we are okay. We’re in a decent enough place in terms of a squad. What I would like to do is just add a tad more quality and if we can do that then we will be in a better position.”
