Coventry care home is speaking out after the death of a worker

A Coventry care home has issued a statement following the death of a worker and described the tragedy as “deeply distressing”. Paramedics found a woman in a critical condition at Grove House Residential Home in Keresley.

Bosses told CoventryLive there was “no risk” to residents following the death of a 60-year-old worker. Grove House Residential Home, on Tamworth Road, is “fully operational” following the tragedy, which happened at around 8.40am on Wednesday, July 24.




Coventry City Council has launched an investigation into the incident and said it is working with Grove House to “ensure the continued safety of residents and staff”. A spokesman said their “thoughts were with the family, friends and colleagues” of the woman who tragically died.

Medics rushed to the scene and treated the victim, but she was pronounced dead a short time later, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. Firefighters told how they fought “heroically” to save the unnamed woman, whose death was ruled “not suspicious”.

A spokesman for Grove House Residential Home said: “We are of course deeply saddened by the loss of a colleague and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. We have contacted the loved ones of all residents in our care and assured them that our home is fully operational and that there is no risk to the people who live and work here.

“The authorities and the coroner have been working very closely with us and West Midlands Police have already declared the death non-suspicious. We will continue to provide any support and assistance to the agencies involved wherever needed.”

In a statement issued on Thursday 25 July, Coventry City Council said: “Following the death of a woman at Grove House Residential Home, the health and safety team is working with West Midlands Police to investigate the matter.
