West Ham trying to hijack Leeds’ deal to sign ‘incredible’ 26-year-old for £4.2m bargain fee

West Ham United reportedly could be a big problem for Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui has already strengthened his West Ham squad this summer, but numerous more new signings are required if we are to compete on all fronts next season, and Leeds could be impacted by one of the Spaniard’s transfer pursuits.

Lopetegui is said to be chasing a bare minimum of three more new additions before the summer transfer window slams shut next month.

Despite the fact that the Hammers head coach has already bolstered his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium with the signing of Max Kilman, the addition of another central defender is badly needed.

Kurt Zouma is quite clearly finished at the very highest level, and Lopetegui must bring in an upgrade on the Frenchman if he is to oversee some real progress at the club.

Nayef Aguerd is another big concern, due to the fact that he is painfully ill-suited to the robust physical nature of Premier League football.

Now the Spaniard seems to have someone in mind to come in and replace one of the two mentioned above…

West Ham trying to hijack Leeds’ deal to sign Jordan Torunarigha

Jordan Torunarigha, 26, is firmly on the Hammers radar this summer, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

It is suggested that Gent could accept a fee of around £4.2 million for the defender, after Leeds had a £2.5 million bid rejected.

The Bundesliga’s official website describes him as ‘incredibly strong’ and they’re bang on the money there.

I think he’d be a very useful addition for the Hammers.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Torunarigha is a strong and physically imposing centre-back with impressive pace, and he has the ability to dominate opposing strikers with his awesome strength.

Last season, he bagged three goals and two assists in 28 league games for Gent. During those appearances, he averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 2.2 clearances and 1.8 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Jordan Torunarigha can play at left-back, as well as his natural center-back position, and that versatility means that the £4.2 million fee would represent a great deal for West Ham.

Beating Leeds to his signature would make it all the sweeter for the Hammers.
