Liverpool player quietly confirms he is looking for a new club this summer as Arne Slot's rebuild begins

Slot is expected to be officially named as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Liverpool.

The Liverpool first-team player has confirmed he is looking for a new club this summer ahead of the anticipated arrival of Arne Slot as manager.

The Reds and Feyenoord have agreed a deal in principle for Slot, who will replace Jurgen Klopp in charge at Anfield once negotiations are completed.

Klopp will manage his final Liverpool game on Sunday when the Reds host Wolves at Anfield.

The Daily Mirror reported that negotiations between Liverpool and Slot have slowed as his long-term assistant Sipke Hulshoff has a dual commitment between Feyenoord and the Dutch national team.

However, Hulshoff has since relinquished his role with the KNVB.

On the recruiting front, Slot will likely want to get to work improving his Liverpool squad once he officially takes over as expected.

It is unclear whether the Dutchman will make any contribution to the Reds’ retained list, which is normally released after the last game of the season.

However, one member of the Liverpool squad has already publicly announced that he will be looking for a new club as his contract expires next month.

That player is third-choice goalkeeper Adrian, who signed a one-year deal last June to stay at Anfield.

The Spaniard became a cult hero at Anfield during his first season when he briefly replaced the injured Alisson and was the hero in the penalty shootout as the Reds beat Chelsea to win the 2019 UEFA Super Cup.

But the 37-year-old has not played a competitive game since the 2022 Community Shield, with Caoimhin Kelleher taking his place as second-choice goalkeeper.

Speaking to Movistar Plus, Adrian said: “I would love to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle.

“I’m still ready to compete. I feel very well, despite the fact that I am 37 years old. You know the goalkeepers, if you take care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re fine, training every day. it gives you that intensity that makes you compete.

“I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet. I’m not ruling out that we could have a pending conversation, but it’s true that we’ll keep an eye out to see what happens in La Liga.”
