A disillusioned former Warwickshire police officer has reportedly had his pension cut

A former Warwickshire police officer who could have his pension taken away. The force has confirmed that former detective sergeant Paul Whitehurst could be stripped of his police pension.

They said Warwickshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Philip Seccombe was considering whether there were opportunities to progress the police pension confiscation application. It comes after Whitehurst was jailed after admitting assaulting his former partner.




The officer, who served the local force for 21 years and received a police bravery award, pleaded guilty to four counts of assault by beating and was jailed for 18 weeks.

He was also banned from entering Nantwich for 10 years. It came after he admitted four charges of assaulting his ex-partner.

When he was arrested for these offenses in December 2023, Whitehurst continued to breach the terms of his bail in January this year.

Warwickshire Police said in June it had held an expedited misconduct hearing, which found he would have been sacked had he not retired earlier. He was also placed on the Police College’s banned list.
