Vehicle hazard in Brisbane, Gold Coast

A 27-year-old Peregian Springs man has been charged following a series of serious road traffic incidents between Brisbane and the Gold Coast yesterday, July 29.

About 10am, the man was driving a Nissan Navara in a dangerous manner through the Brisbane CBD before heading south on the Pacific Freeway.

Shortly before 11am, the man allegedly threw a key through the rear windscreen of a QAS vehicle near Leopard Street, Woolloongabba.

No one was injured.

The man was also allegedly involved in the willful damage to two vehicles, one on Bromley Street, Kangaroo Point and another near Vulture Street, South Brisbane.

Police tracked the vehicle as it traveled south on the Pacific Highway towards the Gold Coast.

It will be alleged that the motor vehicle continued to drive in a dangerous manner and struck and damaged several vehicles.

The man abandoned his Nissan Navara on the freeway near Exit 87 after allegedly stealing a truck from a nearby construction site.

Police intercepted the truck at Elanora, and the driver reportedly fled on foot.

He was arrested nearby shortly after.

The alleged stolen truck was located on Pines Lane, Elanora.

The man was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle and four counts of willful damage.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court today, July 30, via videolink.

Investigations continue.
