Newcastle United have confirmed their move to Premier League rivals Leicester City

NEWCASTLE UNITED manager Ben Dawson has left the club to join Steve Cooper’s new Leicester City side.

Dawson spent a decade as part of the backroom set-up at Newcastle but opted to leave to work at the King Power Stadium following Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League last season.

The respected coach originally joined Newcastle’s academy as a professional development coach in 2014 and was also the head under-21 coach and head of academy coaching. He became first team development coach in 2021, supporting the club’s talent pathway in the senior men’s team.

Newcastle academy director Steve Harper said: “Ben has been a big part of the academy here for over a decade and has played a key role in the development of many players.

“I am delighted that Ben has the opportunity to work in the first team at Leicester City. This development is a testament to his work ethic and the excellent coach development work at our academy supported by Ben, Neil Winskill and more recently Jack Ross.
