Salem Town Hall on the Move at the Levesque Community Living Center (for a day)

SALEM, MA — Salem City Hall is on the move again — for a day, anyway — as part of the next Mobile City Hall.

The program, designed to move all or part of the day to serve the public from a location beyond the City Hall wall, will move staff to the Jean Levesque Community Life Center on May 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We’re always thinking about how we can help improve community members’ access to their local government,” said Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo. “We want everyone to be able to connect with our team easily and conveniently.

“We found the first rounds of this program in November last year and February this year to be successful and well received, and we are now working to expand it and offer this service more regularly and in more parts of the city our. “

For this month’s Mobile Town Hall, students at Bates Elementary School partnered with the newly launched Salem Children’s Alliance to create a community art project that the students will present as a gift to the Council on Aging during the May 21 Mobile Town Hall.

“Our youngest residents have the power to make a positive impact on their community, starting with learning about empathy for others,” said Sarah Roy, director of the Salem Children’s Alliance. “Bates students read ‘How Full Is Your Bucket?’ by Tom Rath and learned about the importance of embracing their unique identity while creating awareness of how their words and actions impact those around them.

“This project is an opportunity for these students to begin to see themselves as powerful and important and will serve as a building block for future civic engagement opportunities in their schools and beyond.

Mobile City Hall welcomes community members to visit the CLC with questions or concerns.
