Pep Guardiola reveals what Manchester City told him about Kevin De Bruyne’s future

Manchester City have informed Pep Guardiola of the status of Kevin De Bruyne’s future this summer amid continued interest and admiration from Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old has been at the center of uncertainty throughout the current summer, with reports surrounding his future continuing into his time with the Belgian at the European Championships following comments made about potential interests and opportunities.

De Bruyne is believed to be an ambitious target for football officials in Saudi Arabia, who continue to develop their game in the Middle East and view the Manchester City player as a transformational signing for the division.

While the Belgium international captain has openly admitted that the financial benefits of the Saudi Pro League may be too hard to turn down, he has also admitted that he sees himself staying at Manchester City for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

And that was a belief shared by his manager Pep Guardiola during a recent press conference, confirming that the legendary midfielder will not be going anywhere this summer despite entering the final year of his contract.

Quizzed further by reporters about Kevin De Bruyne this week and how he knows the midfielder is certain to stay at the club, Pep Guardiola gave an insight into the messages the organization’s hierarchy have been sending him regarding the Belgian.

“No (I have not spoken to him directly), but the club has informed me that they have not received any offer. So to leave, he has to get an offer,” revealed Pep Guardiola. “I don’t know what will happen, but of course I would like him to stay.”

He continued: “He’s the oldest person, the oldest player here. He was here before I was, I’m the second oldest. It’s important; it’s what happened with David (Silva), for example, and the other players.

“He has earned the credit to decide his future, for himself. So what he has done for our club is massive, that’s why he has to decide. The information I have now is that he will stay.”

Kevin De Bruyne is expected to hold talks with Manchester City on his return to the City Football Academy for pre-season training on Monday 5 August as the club ramp up work for the FA Community Shield against Manchester United.

The Premier League champions are understood to be keen to sign the Belgian to an extended deal at the club, but there is unlikely to be any intention from the player to take a cut on his own wages given the proposals made by Saudi Arabia in the last months. .

One player who could still be on his way out of the club is Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, after the 24-year-old confirmed this week that he will make a decision on his future after his campaign at the Paris Olympics . summer.
