Mr Robinson worked as a carpenter for Evolution Sport and was in Spain working for Red Bull during Formula One, police said.

He was described by loved ones as a “hardworking boy” and “family man”.

In their statement, the family said: “We are truly devastated by the loss of our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and great friend Nikki Robinson.

“Nikki was a hardworking boy and family man who tragically died while working for Red Bull in Spain during Formula 1.

“Nikki loved her job and had the great opportunity to travel the world with lifelong friends she worked alongside, made possible by Evolution Sport.

“When Nikki was at home, she loved spending time with her dog and family; especially Alice’s mother and was in the process of refurbishing a van for more adventures.”

Nottinghamshire Police said its specially trained officers were supporting Mr Robinson’s family on behalf of the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office and Spanish law enforcement.
