Wigan Warriors surrendered their place at the top of the Super League table on Friday night as they lost to Warrington Wolves at home. It was Wigan’s second straight defeat, having fallen short at Hull FC the week before, and Hull KR’s win over London Broncos ensures the Cherry and Whites are now in third place.

The club still have a game to play though, and a win in that game against Leigh Leopards next week could be enough to send them back to the top depending on how Round 20 goes. Matt Peet is missing a few key names in present and here’s a look at the club’s current injury status

Brad O’Neill

O’Neill was withdrawn in the second half of last week’s defeat to Warrington after stopping and hitting the deck with what appeared to be a knee problem. Peet confirmed it was his knee after the game and admitted it was a concern. We’ll know more when the coach speaks this week.

Jai Field

Field has been out for more than seven weeks with a hamstring injury but looks set to return soon, with Peet confirming he is back in full training.

French drink

The Frenchman also has a hamstring problem but will not be seen for some time with the Aussie two weeks into his eight-week layoff. As such, the French could well be looking for a return in time to face either Hull KR or Leeds Rhinos in September.

Tom Forber

The Wigan Warriors hooker picked up an ankle problem while playing with Barrow Raiders and faces another two weeks on the sidelines.

Willie Isa

Isa has not been seen since fracturing his ankle in April and with his contract expiring, it looks like there will be a decision to make. He is working hard to regain his fitness, but it is not known if he will return to action this season.

Mike Cooper

Cooper suffered a head injury in the win over Leigh Leopards four weeks ago and has not been seen since. Given the nature of the injury, he won’t be rushed back into action.

Adam Keighran

The Australian picked up a knock to the head against Hull FC and sat out the defeat to Warrington last week. Like Cooper, he will be given the time he needs to prove he is fit to play.

Cruise Leeming

Hooker was included in Wigan’s 21-man squad last week after making a quick recovery from an ankle injury. However, he was not considered to be quite ready to be involved. He should be ready to face Huddersfield on Thursday though.
