The striker linked with a free transfer to Nottingham Forest has agreed to sign for the new club

Nottingham Forest-linked striker Kelechi Iheanacho has now made a decision on his future and is set to sign for a new club.

The talisman left Leicester at the end of last season and has been a free agent since leaving the King Power Stadium.

Forest are on the lookout for a new striker before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood are the two players in the squad competing to lead the line, but more options are needed.

Now Iheanacho has made a decision about his future and has chosen not to stay in the Premier League.

Kelechi Iheanacho will sign with Sevilla

Fabrizio Romano has now explained that Iheanacho has chosen to sign for Sevilla and will sign for the La Liga outfit in the coming days.

The Nigerian international is set to complete a contract with the club and move to Spain on a free transfer.

Iheanacho signed for Leicester from Manchester City and won the FA Cup with the Foxes during his time at the club.

In 232 appearances for Leicester, he scored 61 goals and provided 34 assists, with the player also scoring 21 goals for City.

As a striker who is only 27 years old, Iheanacho could have proved a useful addition to the Forest ranks but has now opted to join Sevilla instead.

Forest need to move forward quickly after Iheanacho’s strike

As a free transfer, Iheanacho might not have turned out to be a bad addition to the Forest ranks – but it would have been perhaps a little disappointing.

Last season he scored just six goals as Leicester won promotion from the Premier League and would hardly have hit form.

Forest need to add a striker to their ranks this summer, with Wood not getting any younger and Awoniyi yet to play in pre-season.

However, there are probably better options available as alternatives to Iheanacho and perhaps Forest are better off from this one.
