The A23 Purley Way has reopened after an accident earlier this morning.

Emergency services confirmed a man was rushed to hospital after suffering injuries.

It was initially closed northbound from about 8:20 a.m. before reopening at noon.

London Ambulance Service confirmed that a man was rushed to hospital following a crash in Purley Way this morning.

Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 8.20am to reports of the crash near the Purley Way playing fields.

Onlookers reported seeing “a man lying on the road” following the crash.

The full LAS statement said: “We were called at 8.22am on Tuesday 30 July to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Purley Way and Edgehill Road, Purley. I sent an ambulance crew to the scene, which arrived within four minutes.

“Our teams treated a man at the scene before taking him to a major trauma center in London as a priority.”

The accident happened near the corner of Purley Way playing fields at around 8.30am this morning (Tuesday, July 30).

Purley Way remains closed northbound, with traffic causing serious disruption on several routes into Purley town centre.
