Kingston loses to Cornwall on Senior Night – Daily Freeman

LAKE KATRINE, NY — The Cornwall High School baseball team defeated Kingston 8-4 in Monday’s Senior Night game for the Tigers at Gruner Field.

Starting pitcher Derek Constance took the loss for the Tigers (8-10). He gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) in three innings. He struck out six and walked one.

Cornwall scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-2 lead and never looked back.

Brady Gardner went 2-for-3 at the plate for Kingston and Freddy Harris had a triple and drove in two runs.

After playing Wallkill on Tuesday in the annual Ed Mills game, the Tigers host Warwick on Thursday, May 16 at 5:15 pm at Gruner Field in Lake Katinre.

Saugerties 9, Albany 0

In Albany, Sawyers pitcher McCoy Rothe went the distance to record the hit. He gave up five hits and struck out 10. He was also 2 for 3 at the plate.

Ty Van Valkenburg was 3 for 3 for Saugerties with an RBI, Brady Reynolds had three RBIs, Julian Silinovich had two runs and Dylan McCaig added a double.

The Sawyers were scheduled to host Spackenkill on Tuesday.

Red Hook 11, Liberty 1 (five innings)

At Red Hook, the host Raiders improved to 11-7 with a game called at the end of five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

After playing at Rhinebeck on Tuesday, Red Hook plays at Highland on Thursday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m.
