Drew Greene: I want to bring my skills

Leeds United Women made their second summer signing with the exciting arrival of former National League Player of the Year Drew Greene.

The versatile 28-year-old joins the Whites from Halifax Women, alongside former teammate Shauna Legge, and has already linked up with the squad for pre-season training.

Now a Leeds United player, Drew is keen to work under new boss Simon Wood and can’t wait for the season to get started.

“It feels really good,” Greene told LUTV. “Pre-season has been good so far, it has been good to get to know everyone and I’m ready to get started.

“I was really eager to join. I had a few meetings with Simon about where he wants the club to be and the goals that he has for the club are really exciting, so it is good to be a part of that.

“I am very direct and I work hard for the team. I can play in several positions – I have played at full-back, on the wing, up front and center midfield, so wherever I play I hope to be making an impact on the pitch.

“I want to bring my skills to the team and also my experience, because I have had experience in tier three, so I am excited to get going.

“I am 28 now, I have a few years’ experience in the third tier and have played in this division with Barnsley before.

“It will be nice to play in front of the fans and Huddersfield Town to start, a West Yorkshire derby, I am excited for that. It is always a good game when I have played against Huddersfield, so it will be a good game to start the league.”
