Everton have confirmed the transfer of Jake O’Brien and the fee and length of the contract have been revealed

Everton have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international defender Jake O’Brien from Olympique Lyonnais. The fee is understood to be around £15m.

O’Brien has signed a four-year deal and the 23-year-old becomes Everton’s fifth signing of the summer following the loan return of winger Jack Harrison and the permanent captures of midfielder Tim Iroegbunam and forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom.

“I’m delighted and so happy to have signed for Everton,” O’Brien told evertontv. “I dreamed of this kind of move to the Premier League with such a historic club. It’s a very exciting move for me.

“Everton is a huge club with a lot of history behind it and there is also a big future. When the transfer window opened, there were other clubs for me, but there was only one club I wanted to go to – it was Everton.

“They showed confidence in me, so now it’s my turn to show why on the pitch.”

More to come.
