Cornish businesses are backing St Ives Rugby Club for next season

A rugby club in Cornwall is set to start a new season.

St Ives Rugby Football Club’s season kicks off on Saturday 7th September with key support from Cornish businesses.

The club, also known as The Hakes, have a storied history in St Ives and their Colts team will be back this season.

The club is also celebrating a record number of members in the youth section.

The expansion is particularly timely as the club plans a major redevelopment of its Alexandra Road home ground, including improvements to the pitch and clubhouse to better support players and visitors.

During the 2023/2024 season, St Ives RFC managed to attract new sponsorship deals and are now set to receive support throughout the coming season.

Cornish Riviera Holidays is one of those sponsors.

They will have the branding featured on both the first and second teams as the business celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The club’s first team manager Paul Sanders said: “We are grateful to Cornish Riviera Holidays and all the businesses who have agreed to support us next season.

“The atmosphere at the games is fantastic and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to come and support us.”

Part of the redevelopment of Alexandra Road will include new clubhouses and changing rooms, increased parking and a change of location for the second pitch.
