Manchester City are willing to sell the Portuguese international

Manchester City would be willing to sell midfielder Matheus Nunes if a big offer comes in during this time current transfer window.

After securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, Manchester City are gearing up for another season as they attempt to win an historic fifth title in a row.

The Citizens are often credited with having one of, if not the best squads in football, with top quality players in every position on the pitch.

This was proven during the 2023 campaign as they secured a historic treble, including their first Champions League title in Istanbul.

Although they also have one of the richest owners in football, they will still be looking to sell players to stay profitable and could face an exit shortly.

Nunes in Saudi Arabia?

According to Football Insider, Manchester City would be willing to sell midfielder Matheus Nunes before the end of the transfer window if a big enough offer comes in from Saudi Arabia before the deadline.

The 25-year-old central midfielder joined the Blues for around £50m last summer from Premier League rivals Wolves in a bid to bolster their midfield depth.

After a fantastic season with Wolves, City fans had high hopes that he would be a fantastic addition to their squad, with many expecting him to play a massive role in another successful season for their club.

However, it didn’t go according to plan for Nunes as his involvement with the team was much more limited than he would have liked.

Thanks to Mateo Kovacic’s performances in the same role, Nunes started just nine Premier League games for the Citizens last season, making just 19 league appearances in total.

Although he was solid when given the chance, the form of the other midfielders in the squad meant that his playing time was extremely limited and now manager Pep Guardiola believes that after one season the Portuguese midfielder is now surplus to requirements.

City’s best hope of at least recouping the initial transfer fee for Nunes is to sell him to a club in Saudi Arabia, as this will ensure they comply with PSR rules.

If the club can sell the player for a fee similar to that paid, it will likely be a no-brainer for City to allow Nunes to leave the club this summer.
