Birmingham City transfer news as huge Jay Stansfield development emerges

Birmingham City are deadlocked in negotiations over a £6m swoop for Fulham striker Jay Standsfield as the transfer on every Bluenose’s lips looks ever closer.

Stansfield would be a hugely ambitious signing for the Blues after his impressive loan spell at the club last season saw him named the club’s player of the season.

The Blues are looking to go straight back into the Championship as they look to complete the Chris Davies era – Stansfield’s move is seen as a signing that would signal the club’s intent for the rest of League One.

telegraph report that talks are continuing between the two clubs and the situation is likely to end sooner rather than later, with the Blues hoping they can set a new League One transfer fee record.

The Blues were the beneficiaries of Stansfield’s talents last season; despite relegation to League One, he scored 13 goals and was considered their best player, despite being only 21 and experiencing Championship football for the first time. However, after Stansfield proved he can pull off the second leg, he could make things difficult for the Blues if a battle to sign him arises this summer.

It was suggested by Cottagers boss Marco Silva at the end of last season that Stansfield, who recently scored in Fulham’s 6-1 pre-season friendly win over Watford, would remain with the Premier League club in the new campaign after Blues exploits. but with Emile Smith Rowe set to arrive and join the likes of Rodrigo Muniz, Raul Jimenez, Harry Wilson and others in Fulham’s final third department, Stansfield could be allowed to make a move.
