Leeds United monitor AC Milan ‘displaced’ player as full-back transfer hunt continues

Leeds United are said to be chasing one of AC Milan’s ‘split’ stars.

The Whites are still in the market for further reinforcements after sanctioning the contracts of Glen Kamara and Archie Gray so far this summer. Strengthening the defense remains a priority, with Daniel Farke’s side conceding top spot in the Championship at the end of the season before falling at the final hurdle in the 2023/24 play-offs.

Joe Rodon has already arrived and is likely to partner Ethan Empadu in the center of defence, but it is in the wide areas where internal discussions have taken place. Junior Firpo’s future remains up in the air with a move to La Liga, particularly Real Betis, continually mooted.

AC Milan defender Fode Ballo-Toure is now training on his own after a row with the club’s management, with Calcio Mercato stating how Leeds United are now interested in bringing him to Elland Road. Besiktas and Watford are also keen on the 27-year-old defender.

Ballo-Toure can also operate as a central defender, having done so several times for AC Milan in the past. He spent last season on loan at Fulham in the Premier League but made just eight appearances in total for the Cottagers.

The Senegal international was signed from AS Monaco in 2021 for €5.4m (£4.5m) and his contract expires in June 2025. He has now made just 26 appearances for the club, scoring just once . Captain Theo Hernandez has proved difficult to replace and the defender could now seek pastures new this summer, with Leeds providing a perfect opportunity to do so.
