The name Royal Enfield ‘Classic 650 Twin’ is the trademark, launched this year

After the Guerrilla 450, we can now confirm the name of Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc model, which could also be one of the biggest launches of the year. Destined to be called the ‘Classic 650 Twin’, one will get the same rich classic charm of the retro-styled bike, but now in a larger 650cc avatar. And since test mules of this camouflaged bike have already been spotted several times before, some details are confirmed.

To begin with, the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin will maintain its low stance as seen with the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. But it will have a slightly higher ground clearance to suit its roadster credentials. Suspension loads will be handled by the telescopic fork instead of the Showa-sourced premium upside-down fork as seen on its cruiser and bobber counterpart. Similarly, the instrument console will also be a much simpler analog unit, to keep its prices under control.

The overall body design of the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin will remind you of the smaller Classic 350 model. But the bigger 650cc parallel-twin engine and dual pea muffler exhaust system will make it look beefier than the 350cc bike. As for the engine, it is slated to produce the same 46.3 PS and 52.3 Nm as other models in this range.

Other than that, we expect the ergonomics to be the same – upright with neutral footrests. It will neither be as relaxed as the Super Meteor 650 nor as easily engaged as the Shotgun 650.

Given that it will most likely be Royal Enfield’s new 650cc model, we expect the Classic 650 Twin to start at ₹3.30 lakh. It will be more expensive than the Interceptor 650, but will still retain an appeal for those who want that bigger classic in their garage.
