Crypto leaders discuss the future of crypto policy with the White House

California Congressman Ro Khanna, along with other members of the White House, hosted a Zoom meeting with some crypto figures to discuss issues related to crypto regulations and policies under the current administration. The meeting, intended to mend differences between Democrats and the crypto industry, was fraught from the start.

Twelve participants were on the call, including Treasury Assistant Secretary Wally Adeyemo, Kamala Harris’ former Chief of Staff Kristine Lucius, White House Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, and National Economic Council Deputy Director Lael Brainard.

On the crypto side, Coinbase General Counsel Paul Grewal, Ripple CEO Brad Garlingson, crypto investor Mark Cuban, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams, SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci, Democratic donor Ron Conway and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire were in attendance.

Crypto executives have not hesitated to express their displeasure with the current Biden administration, stating “unfair” treatment they are receiving from the government.

Ron Conway argued that the Biden administration has yet to take any steps to support the crypto industry, despite its attempts to raise awareness of the sector’s challenges over the past two years.

Regardless of the heated conversations, crypto executives have begun investigating the Harris campaign as a means to mend the clashes the crypto industry has had with the Biden administration.

“This was very much a Biden administration meeting, but now the focus has to be on the Harris campaign and what they’re willing to do. She is the perfect candidate to be a strong new face for crypto and make a break with the past. Paul Grewal said on Fox News.

Since being announced as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming election, Kamala Harris’ campaign has turned to the crypto industry. They held several meetings with crypto leaders to discuss crypto related matters.

In addition, Kamala Harris has also garnered the support of crypto enthusiasts who are putting efforts into her campaign. Among these groups is the Crypto4Harris network, which is geared toward increasing support for Harris among the crypto community.

Meanwhile, the Harris campaign’s recent involvement in crypto business has boosted her odds of a potential victory in November on crypto prediction market Polymarket to 49%, bringing her head-to-head with contender Donald Trump as the presidential election nears.
