When the warm weather returns after days of miserable rain

Days of warm, dry weather, perfect for relaxing in the sun, could arrive before the end of the week, according to forecasters. It comes after days of heavy rain and weather warnings were issued across the region and across the UK.

Temperatures could reach up to 20 degrees Celsius by Saturday, with bright sunshine and clear skies set to grace Greater Manchester at the weekend.

The sudden change comes just days after rainwater seeped into the roof of Manchester Airport, concerts were canceled at the eleventh hour and the roof of Old Trafford began to cave in amid a torrential storm on Sunday (May 12).

However, Met Office forecasters predict warmer weather could be on the horizon for most of the region by the end of this week.

On Saturday (May 18), there will be sunny intervals throughout the day, with occasional patches of cloud. Temperatures are expected to reach 20 degrees Celsius.

The pleasant conditions will continue on Sunday with highs of 19C and again on Monday with a bright and warm start to the week. Conditions will be cloudy at times, but highs will remain around 18°C.

Looking ahead, the Met Office predicts the UK’s weather will be “changeable” for the rest of May. The north will see slightly above average temperatures this weekend, with the possibility of drier weather next week, while showers are more likely in the south.
