Sri Lankan restaurant where “food is prepared in front of guests” who come to Putney

An award-winning Sri Lankan restaurant is set to open in Putney this week.

Colombo Kitchen Putney is award-winning chef Sylvia Perera’s second venture and will have its grand opening on Thursday 16 May.

Located at 240 Upper Richmond Road, the restaurant will serve traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and exotic cocktails.

After the success of her first restaurant in Worcester Park, Chef Sylvia is delighted to be able to share her authentic recipes with Sri Lankans.

Sylvia said: “I was honored when people told me they had traveled from all over London and even overseas just to taste the food I grew up eating.

“That’s why I’m so excited to open this second location and share my heritage with even more people.”

While Sri Lankan cuisine has become increasingly fashionable in London, Colombo Kitchen stands out for its unique hopper and kottu bar concept, where traditional street food is prepared right under the guests’ noses.

This dedication to authenticity won it the Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka award at the prestigious Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards.

The new location is just a short walk from East Putney train station.

The space offers a luxurious yet lively atmosphere that is perfect for groups and outdoor dining.

The grand opening on May 16 will be complete with a traditional opening ceremony and traditional Kandy dancers.

Reservations can be made on the Colombo Kitchen website.

Colombo Kitchen will be open from Wednesday to Friday from 17:00 to 23:00 and on weekends from 12:00 to 23:00.
