Crysencio Summerville’s stance on Elland Road exit this summer if Leeds United fail to get promoted

Given his age and the quality of his performances this season, several big clubs have already started circling ahead of the summer, which will bring him into the final two years of his contract.

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are among those keen, while Arne Slot has also been linked before taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Summerville still has a big job on his hands trying to help Leeds back into the Premier League, but the summer will undoubtedly be a busy one for him no matter what happens.

Summerville’s stance on Elland Road exit if Leeds fail to win play-offs

Failure to earn a promotion this season would undoubtedly lead to the sale of key players this summer, something 49ers Enterprises has already acknowledged.

With parachute payments reducing from 55% to 45% in the second season after relegation, Leeds would have to raise funds to comply with the EFL’s PSR rules.

Unfortunately, Summerville is among those in the Leeds squad who would attract a bigger fee and so the money he could get could be hard to turn down.

According to Team Talk, Leeds value Summerville at between £30m and £40m and would try to match that figure even if they stay in the Championship.

However, according to the same report, Summerville would not try to force an Elland Road exit this summer due to how happy he is currently at the club.

Of course, that in no way rules him out, amid the club’s need to sell if Leeds are not promoted, but he “will not be looking to rock the boat” by pushing to leave.

After watching many of his teammates from last season go through summer exits, it would have been easy for Summerville to do the same.

He has attracted a lot of interest over the past 12 months, including from European sides such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa, but has continued to play at Leeds.

There have been question marks over his body language in recent weeks, but ultimately it’s been a frustrating time for him and the entire team lately. Nothing should be read into this.

After the way he’s performed this season, nobody should begrudge him a big move this summer if Leeds don’t get promoted. He did everything he could to help the club rise.
