Fed’s Bostic says it needs “a little more data” to be ready to cut rates Reuters

(Reuters) – Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic said on Tuesday that recent economic data made him “more confident” that the U.S. central bank can bring inflation back to its 2 percent target, but he wants to see “a little more a lot of data” before it gets ready to support lower interest rates.

Bostic, speaking at an event in Atlanta, noted that the balance of risks between inflation and the labor market is closer to level, but he wants to make sure the Fed avoids cutting interest rates too soon, only to have to raise rates later if inflation is reaccelerating. .

However, if the economy performs as expected, rates would be lower by the end of this year. “I’m willing to wait, but it’s coming… It’s coming,” Bostic said.
