Operation Vortex sees police target dangerous driving

In the first week of the operation, which began on Wednesday, May 8, officers stopped 103 cars, impounded 10 cars and made 10 arrests. To date, the offenses uncovered by officers include: 31 speeding offences, including two drivers traveling at over 97mph; 316 other speeding offences, detected by the Radar Unit; eight mobile phone offences; three drivers driving while disqualified; a driver is not wearing a seat belt; seven drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs; five drivers driving carelessly.
