Kylie Jenner couldn’t choose a baby name because of postpartum depression

In an interview with British Vogue, the Kylie Cosmetics founder talked about being a young mother and how she struggled with postpartum depression for about a year after giving birth to each of her children.

“It hit me differently both times,” Jenner, 27, told British Vogue, adding that she had “major baby blues” when she gave birth to her son, which made her emotional about with things she wouldn’t normally get excited about.

Jenner said she couldn’t decide on a suitable name for her son for the longest time.

“On the phone with my mom crying hysterically all day, saying, ‘I can’t figure out his name,'” she said. “When I met him, he was the most beautiful thing to me and I couldn’t believe how perfect he was. I felt like such a failure I couldn’t name it. It deserves much more than that. just triggered me”.

She said it ultimately took her a year to decide on her son’s name Aire.

Now, her advice to all her friends who are expecting is to choose the baby’s name early, “because when the hormones hit you you can’t make decisions,” she added.

In a survey of 4,000 parents and parents-to-be, BabyCenter, an online pregnancy and parenting platform, found that the most popular time to decide on a baby’s name is in the second trimester.

Meanwhile, 17% of respondents say they choose a name the day the baby arrives, while 8% say they will wait a few days – or even weeks – before making a decision.

Thanks to social media and celebrities, it’s becoming more and more common for parents to give their children unique names.

However, some countries such as Germany have strict naming laws that prohibit parents from naming their children by places, titles or brands.

For some parents, choosing a special name for their children is so important that they even enlist the help of baby naming consultants to get the job done. And they don’t come cheap: Some baby naming consultants can charge up to $10,000 for their services.

A representative for Jenner did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
