Jack Black spotted in Leeds shopping center leaves film fan stunned

Shoppers were left stunned after spotting Hollywood star Jack Black nearby in Leeds at the weekend.

Fan Daniel Hook, from Bramley, spoke of the “surreal” moment he bumped into the School of Rock legend at a shopping park in Kirkstall on Saturday. The star performed with his band Tenacious D at Leeds Arena on Saturday night, but not before a leisurely outing to Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park with his family.

Daniel said he was stunned to see the star “just walking around”. She managed to take a selfie with him and described him as “cute”. The trainee plasterer said: “He looked at me and smiled and I said, ‘You’re Jack Black!’ I was amazed that no one was stopping him or making a fuss or anything. He shook my hand twice and was nice and very relaxed.

“He was happy to have a picture, he said when I pulled out my phone ‘you were wally goggling’ meaning he was sitting, then he said he was also ‘wally goggler’ in his American accent.”

Asked how it felt to meet such a big star, Daniel added: “He’s a big presence and it was all a bit surreal, my biggest memory of him was ‘School of Rock’ and I always liked them his movies.

“To be honest, I’ll never meet anyone more famous than him. My partner Laura didn’t believe me when I told her who I just met!” And Jack himself clearly had a great day too, announcing later at the gig “I had such a nice walk down your canal, I saw a swan there!” to delighted applause from the crowd.
