Could you pass a SATS maths test for year 6 students? Try our quiz to find out

Year 6 SATs take place this week. Children are tested in maths, English grammar, punctuation, spelling and reading. We’ve adapted the SAT maths papers set by the Department for Education and turned them into a quiz to give you an idea of ​​how our children are tested – and so you can see if you’d pass the exam!

Under formal exam conditions in their classrooms, the children tackled three maths papers. Paper one focuses on arithmetic, while papers two and three consist of reasoning questions.

I examined an arithmetic paper which had 36 questions to be answered in 30 minutes. In this test, long division and long multiplication questions were worth two points each, while all other questions were worth one point each.

Please note that we have made our questions multiple choice. In a real SAT arithmetic test, children would be expected to calculate the answers on their own without the help of a calculator.
