SANTIAGO (Reuters) – The union at BHP’s giant Escondida mine in Chile said in a memo to its members on Sunday that it could resume a strike later in the day if the company does not “rectify its position” on contract negotiations asap. .

The mine’s powerful union went on strike on Tuesday over pay disputes and on Friday reached a preliminary agreement to end a strike at the world’s biggest copper mine that had threatened to affect global supplies of the red metal.
