This is what you’ll see inside a Navy armory

24/7 Wall St. Perspectives

  • I used data from a catalog of naval firearms from the Military Factory.
  • Most of the weapons listed here are rifles, consistent with their historical connection to this branch of the military.
  • Also, 2 Dividend Legends to Keep Forever

The United States Marine Corps originated on November 10, 1775, after a commission from the Continental Congress to create two battalions of marines to serve as landing forces for the fleet during the American Revolution. Since then, Marines have participated in every major conflict and war. To appear ready for battle, a Marine must be equipped with a variety of tools. The creed of the United States Marine Corps Rifles emphasizes this significance, stating, “My rifle without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.” From rifles to handguns to sniper rifles, each weapon contributes to the effectiveness of the Marine Corps’ fighting force.

Marines are charged with the responsibility of making strategic decisions on the spot in any environment. This attitude was highlighted in a statement by USMC General David Berger: “As good as we are today, we will have to be even better tomorrow to maintain our combat superiority. We will achieve this through the power of innovation, ingenuity and our willingness to continuously adapt and initiate changes in the operating environment to affect the behavior of real-world rhythm threats,” he led the Marines through a multitude of varied conflicts.

Most of the weapons listed here are rifles, in keeping with their historical connection to this branch of the military, emphasizing the principle that “Every Marine is a Rifleman” regardless of their occupational specialty. Another notable feature of this arsenal is the interchangeable ammunition in many of these weapons, particularly the 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges, which can be used in multiple firearms.

To determine the standard weapons of the US Marine Corps, 24/7 Wall St. referred to a catalog of naval firearms from the Military Factory. We have organized these weapons by their entry into service and provided details such as firearm type, range, caliber and manufacturer, all sourced from the Military Factory.

Why this matters

This is what you’ll see inside a Navy armory

24/7 covers the United States military so you can understand how the defense industry affects the economy. This list is an overview of weapons used by the US Marine Corps. Billions of dollars go toward keeping every Marine equipped with the tools they need to defend our nation. New weapons systems typically require over a decade of research, development, testing, manufacturing and training before they can be added to the arsenal. These military contracts are funded by taxpayers, hurting your pocketbook.
