In addition to the wreckage of destroyed buildings, cars and boats, about 100 kilograms of narcotics were discovered on the state’s shores in the days after the storm hit on Aug. 5, CNN reported.

The largest shipment was about 25 packages of cocaine with a street value of more than $1 million that were found on a beach in the Florida Keys, the news organization reported.

A week later, another shipment of cocaine, this one worth more than $600,000, was found near Everglades City on the Gulf of Mexico. However, this batch may have been lost during an earlier event because the 56-pound package was covered in barnacles, CNN said.
