“Arrogant” headmaster committed vile sexual assaults on female students

An “arrogant” headteacher who carried out vicious sexual assaults on four young girls is facing a long stint behind bars. Former ‘controlling’ teacher Neil Foden has been convicted of 19 child sex offences.

The 66-year-old was cleared of one charge by jurors following a trial. A court heard how the pedophile abused his young victims over a four-year period.

He told one child he loved her and called another his “little sex toy”. Foden appeared unresponsive as he sat in the dock and heard he now faces a lengthy prison sentence.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said Foden’s excuse for his behavior was due to his “arrogantly controlling personality as an individual who is used to getting his way”. The judge said: “Some of the explanations for your behavior towards the victims that you gave during the trial at times frankly beggared belief.”

He added: “You were a strong figure, you believed you could do exactly what you liked.” Foden worked at a school in North Wales.

Jurors deliberated for a day before returning their verdicts at Mold Crown Court on Wednesday, May 15. During the trial, a video of Foden holding the hand of one of the girls – known as Child A – as she sat in the back of his car. was played in the court.

He was in the driver’s seat. Foden – a former executive member of the National Education Union – was arrested after Child A showed an adult a photo of the pair together, along with screenshots of messages about oral sex.

She told police: “He would say he loved me. After a while it became a bit more sexual. After we kissed a few days later he put his hands on my pants so the text messages would be like, what did he want to do. thousand.”

The pedophile would take her in his car and drive them to isolated areas. Another complainant, child E, told police he referred to Foden as Mr P, perfectly.

He called her “his little sex toy”, the court heard. She described meeting the teacher in his BMW, which had personalized license plates.

Then Foden would drive long distances and on country roads so he could “play with me,” she said. Police discovered a pair of purple and black lace handcuffs in the trunk of his car, which had DNA matching Foden and the youth.

The defendant was accused of pinching Child B’s thigh and reaching under her clothes. Child C claimed he put his hand on her upper thighs.

Foden has denied all wrongdoing and said he is not an “abusive adult”. He told the jury he was unable to have sex because of erectile dysfunction caused by a medical condition.

Asked about a message he sent Child A saying he was “slightly turned on”, he said: “The sad reality is that Mr Foden couldn’t be easily turned on if he wanted to.”

He said the message was meant to be “gratuitous” and to make the girl “feel attractive”. Concerns about Foden had been raised with Gwynedd Council at an earlier stage, the court heard.

Judge Rowlands said: “When real concerns about the defendant were first raised at the county council they were simply dismissed, quite out of hand.” He said no investigation was conducted and no notes were taken.

He added: “We now know he continued to offend. This is really very worrying.” Foden – from Old Colwyn, North Wales – was convicted of 12 counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual activity with a child in a position of trust and one count each of causing or inciting child sexual activity, attempting to arrange for the commission of a child sex offence, sexually communicating with a child, possessing indecent photographs of a child and sexually assaulting a child.

He was cleared of a charge of sexual activity with a child where he allegedly touched the bottom of child D. The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a sentencing hearing on 1 July.
