Brent Lenorud takes over as Mauston Fire Chief

Brent Lenorud, a firefighter with the department and assistant chief under former Chief Kim Hale, was promoted to the role of fire chief after spending four months in the role in an interim capacity.

Hale retired as chief effective Dec. 31, but remains a firefighter with the department.

Lenorud was selected to succeed Hale during the Mauston Fire and Police Commission meeting on April 25 and was sworn in during a Common Council meeting on Tuesday.

The department’s firefighters are paid each time they are dispatched to a fire. Lenorud has the same pay structure and receives a salary of $12,000 for his role as chief.
