An angry cyclist pulled the nurse from her car and punched her in the face

A district nurse is in “total shock” after she was assaulted by a cyclist while driving home from work.

The 59-year-old victim, who does not want to be named, was driving along Aigburth Road on the afternoon of May 14 at around 2pm when he passed a cyclist. As he passed him, the cyclist allegedly hit his side mirror and started “hurling abuse”.

Speaking to the ECHO, the woman’s daughter said: “My mum pulled up outside Sudley Primary School and opened the car door, planning to say ‘sorry if I got too close’. But he didn’t have the opportunity to explain.”

She added: “He pulled her out of the car and punched her in the face.”

According to the daughter, her mother, who was wearing her nurse’s uniform at the time, was “screaming at the top of her lungs” when the attack took place. She also claims her mother was grabbed by the hair and pushed by the car.

Throughout the ordeal, the man, said to be in his 70s with a white beard, allegedly hurled abuse at the nurse and repeatedly punched her car window, “as if he was trying to break it “. The daughter claims she only stopped when her mother pulled out her phone and told her she was going to call the police.
