3 popular amenities you won’t find on a Disney Cruise Lines ship

Ask any Walt Disney adult about Disney Cruise Line and they will rave about the amount of fun available only for adults. Disney cruises aren’t just about poolside meet-and-greets with Disney characters, songs and movies.

From stylish nightclubs and lounges and an adults-only pool area to exclusive adult-only dining and spa experiences, Disney Cruise Line places significant emphasis on creating enjoyable spaces for adults.

Disney’s private island Castaway Cay even has a quiet, adults-only area, Serenity Bay. Adults-only shore excursions are also available through Disney Cruise Line’s Port Adventures.

While Disney cruises clearly aren’t just for kids, adults considering a Disney cruise should be aware of these three amenities you won’t find on a Disney cruise ship.

While Disney has embraced sports betting, its cruise ships do not have a casino.

1. A casino on board

If your ideal cruise experience includes gambling at sea, Disney Cruise Line probably isn’t for you.

While ESPN Disney entered the gaming arena with the launch of ESPN Bet in November 2023, Disney wants families to continue to trust it to provide wholesome family entertainment. The casinos on its cruise ships just don’t fit the Disney brand image.

However, if a raucous game of Bingo brings you joy, you can hit the jackpot and take home a magical Disney cruise cash prize. Bingo is a popular and lively Disney cruise activity on board.

Children are welcome to join the Bingo fun on Disney cruises, under adult supervision. The supervising adult is required to claim any winnings.

2. Beverage packages

Most cruise lines offer their guests the opportunity to save a percentage off their bar menu prices with pre-purchased liquor packages. Disney Cruise Line is one of the few cruise lines that does not adhere to this cruise industry standard.

Yes, you can buy alcoholic beverages on a Disney cruise, but a bar drink package is not part of the magic.

That’s not to say there aren’t ways to save money on alcohol on a Disney cruise.

If you’re a wine lover, consider pre-purchasing a Disney Cruise Wine Package that offers wines to pair with dinner each night. These packages offer savings of up to 25%.

Beer drinkers can pre-purchase a savings pack for Disney Cruise Line beer mugs and beer packs that offer six packs for the price of five.

Once on board, you’ll also find happy hour specials and a drink of the day deal.

You can also cut down on beverage costs on a Disney cruise by bringing your own alcohol. Disney Cruise Line’s alcohol policy states that:

“Disney Cruise Line guests over the age of 21 may bring a maximum of 2 unopened bottles of wine or champagne (no larger than 750ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the start of the voyage and each port. of call. These drinks must be packed in luggage or hand luggage (not qualified).

3. Emotions theme park

You won’t find a Space Mountain-style rollercoaster or a highway at sea on a Disney cruise ship. At least not yet.

Disney Cruise Line was the first cruise line to add an onboard water coaster, a family slide called AquaDuck back in 2011. This 2-person raft ride is featured on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ships.

Later, the cruise line added AquaDunk, a more thrilling single-rider water slide, to the Disney Magic cruise ship.

In 2022, Disney Cruise Line made waves when it unveiled its first water attraction at sea, AquaMouse, on Disney Wish. An immersive experience featuring “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts, the onboard water coaster whisks families through 760 feet of tubes that wind above the ship’s upper decks.
