Authorities search Andrew Tate’s home as part of underage sex investigation

Romanian law enforcement officers raided four homes belonging to Andrew Tate on Wednesday as part of a new investigation into the self-described misogynist and his brother, Tristan, according to multiple reports.

Romania’s DIICOT, the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, said in a press release – in which they did not name the Tate brothers – that the raids were linked to the formation of an organized criminal group, trafficking minors , sexual relations with a minor, influence. statements and money laundering.

The searches involved four homes in Bucharest and Ilfov county, according to the agency.

The Tate brothers were taken to DIICOT headquarters for questioning, the BBC reported. The brothers’ lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, told the BBC they were unlikely to be detained given their travel restrictions amid ongoing legal issues.

Business Insider could not immediately reach DIICOT or Vidineac.

Mateea Petrescu, spokeswoman for Andrew Tate, told the Associated Press that “although the allegations in the search warrant are not yet fully clear, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering.” Petrescu did not mention the allegations related to minors, according to AP.

As he was led to a police car, Reuters reported that Tate said: “Anything to put me in jail, except a trial. Without a trial, without a judge, this country is crazy.”

Tate and his brother, Tristan, were first arrested in 2022 in Romania, along with two Romanian women, AP reports, and were officially indicted last year. They have denied previous charges of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

In March, the brothers were detained in Romania on a UK arrest warrant alleging sex offenses dating back to 2012-2015.

They denied all the charges.

On Wednesday, Tate made several posts on X in apparent response to searches of his homes.

“The matrix is real,” he wrote. “And they have a tried and true playbook. Slander is their number one tool and trial is punishment. But unfortunately for them, good always wins in the end.”
