talkSPORT Betting Tips – The best darts bets and expert tips for Premier League Round 16 in Sheffield

It’s the final week of action in this year’s Premier League regular season, with a play-off spot up for grabs and a delicious winner-takes-all tie to decide who claims it.

Sheffield’s Utilita Arena hosts Night 16 with all eyes on the quarter final between fourth seed Nathan Aspinall and fifth seed Michael Smith.

Whoever wins that round will join Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen at the O2 in London next Thursday for finals night.

Littler can end the dream campaign with tasty highs

It was a dream debut for Luke Littler, who only needs to beat Peter Wright in the opening game of the evening to guarantee his top spot ahead of the play-offs.

For Wright, on the other hand, the campaign has been a disaster with just two game wins in 15 weeks and a wooden spoon to show for the three-month graft.

Last week he was stunned against Littler in a 6-1 thrashing, averaging just 83. The teenager also hit the most 180 (4-1) and the highest score of the game.

Snakebite would no doubt like to go out on a high, but the truth is that he and Littler seem to be on different levels right now. And if the match triple/180s/big check-out worked last week for The Nuke, chances are it will happen again on Thursday.

Playing Wright is almost a bye in the semis and while it didn’t work out for Littler last Thursday – he lost to Van Gerwen in the semis – he can go all the way this time.

Cool Hand to keep Gezzy down

Gerwyn Price failed to reach the play-offs for the fifth time in six Premier League tilts and fell to something of a whimper with one win in the past five weeks.

A back problem didn’t help and last Thursday he didn’t even manage an average of 90 in losing 6-3 to Van Gerwen.

If he matches those levels with world No.1 and world champion Humphries in Sheffield, he will be lucky to collect three stages.

Humphries won in Leeds a week ago and reached the final of the Baltic Sea Open in Kiel with his usual string of blistering averages.

That he lost in the final to Rob Cross – despite completing a nine-darter – was a surprise. He shouldn’t lose to Price, who he can beat by two feet or more.

Back Asp to show his bottle in the decider

Aspinall and Smith are best friends on the court but sworn enemies on Thursday when they meet for a place in the semi-finals.

Whoever wins goes into the play-offs and Bully Boy should be confident after beating Aspinall just last Thursday.

However, The Asp averaged six more points than Smith in the defeat and will absolutely love this high-pressure situation. Support him to get his revenge.
